If you are thinking of starting an Internet Marketing career, there are many things to consider. One of which is protecting your work. The last thing you want to do is work in vain, to have it all be gone after spending hours on it.
I am going to share with you some ideas to keep your material, time, and equipment safe from unexpected events that can happen to us all.
Surge Protectors to Save the Electronics
Using a surge protector can help protect your electronic devices against a sudden surge of power, such as during a storm. If lightning strikes nearby on a power line, it can generate far more electricity than your outlets can handle, resulting in potential severe damage to your electronics.
I had this happen before, and even with home owners insurance, it’s a hassle to have everything replaced. You will also probably lose all the work on your computer, if this happens. I now use surge protectors, but will still unplug everything if I know a storm is coming, or if I leave the home for more than a couple days.
The surge protectors range in types, from the basic power strip, to one that is equipped to protect the entire home.
Generators to Protect Your Time
If you have ever lost power for more than a few hours, then you know the frustration of not being able to get anything done. Unless you are not scheduled to work during that time, it’s time lost on the job. That time is valuable in reaching deadlines and goals.
I recommend looking for a portable generator such as the Yamaha ef3000iseb generator, which something you can use anywhere for a variety of situations. A portable generator can easily be stored in the garage when you don’t need it, but conveniently there, when you do.
There are also home standby units that are hooked up the home permanently and runs off your gas lines. These can be great because they start up automatically when the power goes out, and shut off when it comes back on. However, while they are convenient, the cost is a significantly higher than a portable.
Online Backup Programs to Save Material
Now, let’s talk about protecting our data and material that we have spent a great deal of time developing. If our computer crashes, we might be able to get some of it back if we know someone good enough to retrieve it…and if they get lucky.
Or, possibly we have been saving our material to an outside source such as a CD or a flash drive. That’s great, if we do it continuously throughout the day, or remember to do it at the end of each day.
For those of us who would like a more consistent and sure way to save our material, there are online backup programs such as Carbonite.
These are inexpensive programs that will automatically save your material as you are putting it into your computer. Each time you create or modify a file, it’s saved. If the time comes when you need to retrieve it, it’s a simple process of downloading it off their site.
Hackers Beware
Another area to be concerned with is hacking. If you have a blog, you need to keep it secure so someone can’t get into it and create havoc. Here are a few easy steps you can take to help prevent your site from being hacked:
- Maintain a strong password that isn’t your name, birthdate, or address
- Use WordPress Plugins such as Login Lockdown and Antivirus
- Backup your data on a regular basis
- Use the correct file permission settings
Many people can go for years without a threat of someone hacking into their system. But, there are enough unscrupulous people out there that I believe it warrants the easy steps in protecting yourself against such attacks.
Keep an Eye on Your Work
Plagiarism has been around for a long time. However, with a lot of work going out through the Internet, it’s rampant these days. It is illegal for someone to take your work and call it their own, without your permission.
It’s best to keep an eye on your work, by randomly doing searches through online plagiarism-checker programs. There are several to choose from, with a few that are free to use. If you find some of your work being used without your permission, make contact with the person. Quite often it’s someone just starting out in the business and a friendly warning will be enough for them to take the work down from their site.
If the friendly warning doesn’t work, you might want to consider contacting an attorney.
Fire Proof Safe
If you have material that is not backed up on your computer or through the online backup programs, then you should find an alternative way to keep it safe. Perhaps the easiest way would be with a fire proof safe that you can keep right in your office.
They range in size and cost, so just do some research to find out which ones are favorable to the public.
I am a big fan of doing a lot of research on items that I am thinking of investing in. In fact, most of the items and methods I have mentioned above can be researched online. For example, you can type ‘portable generator review’, or something more specific like ‘Duromax generator review’ to get an idea if the general public is happy with the product you are interested in.
Thank you for the post,Now a days it is very important to save your otherwise everything will get wipe out.

Vishal, thanks for the interesting post. I hope you don’t mind if I add one more thing: web marketers should protect their private lives from their work. It can be rather hard to stop surfing on the web especially if you work at home the entire day. Moreover many people mix their personal social media accounts with corporate ones. I doubt that their customers are interested in personal photos and comments
