Essential Elements for Your First Website

Building your first website is an important part of establishing your online presence for potential customers and loyal customers to gather information, share ideas and purchase your products and services.

If you have never built a website before, there are a few essential elements you will want to include before you launch your site.

Compelling Content

Your website may serve many functions: entertainment, information and purchasing. Your content should work towards the main goal of the website. If the goal of your website is to get potential clients to call your office and make an appointment, every piece of content should include a call to action and the contact information necessary to do so.

If your website’s main goal is to sell products directly, content should highlight the products you have for sale and always link to the products you are discussing in blog posts, videos or other types of content that appear on your site.

Clear Contact Information

One of the things that many first-time websites forget is contact information for their customers to use in case of questions, concerns or additional inquiries. While you may provide visitors with a comprehensive FAQ section, letting them contact you for more information through an email form or a toll free number will signal to them that you care and are truly interested in meeting their needs.

Easy Navigation

Another aspect of any website that can make or break the success is how easy it will be for visitors to navigate. Ideally you want your customers to be able to get from one page to another without constantly having to revisit the home page. This can be achieved through drop down or sidebar menus listing all of the web pages available.

To make sure the user experience is the best it can be on your site in terms of navigation, make sure to test it yourself to see if you can find any flaws in navigation or searching for the things you want to find on your website.

If you are interested in building your own site with quality web tools or having your site designed for you by the experts, you can learn more about the process and decide which option best meets your needs.
