When you purchase a license for Office 365, it becomes clear very quickly that there is not a simple and free way to add another email address that you can send from as well as receive emails to. One method is to pay for an extra license, so that a full new mailbox will be provided that, say, a team could access. This is probably the best way, as emails can be flagged to people and seen by the rest of the team in Office 365. Downside of this method is that it costs extra money. The setup overhead is also not any easier, as you will need to grant Full Access and Send As permissions to the users. More on how to do this Office 365 will come later.

What is Office 365 ?

Office 365 is Online Versions of Microsoft Software in the Cloud and is a commercial software plus services offering a set of products from Microsoft Corporation, with the initial plan.

The second method is to set up an email address as a distribution group, which does not require and extra license. Firstly, you must log into the admin control panel and set up a new distribution group, with the desired email address in office 365.

Add the desired members to the distribution group, this should be fairly self-explanatory.

The important step to perform is the one pictured below. Delivery Management has an option who can send to this address, and there is a radio button for two options. Inexplicably, Microsoft felt the need to set the default to ‘Only senders in my organization can send here’. This needs to be changed to ‘Senders inside and outside my organization’. I have no idea why they did this, it seems to be mostly a pointless option, and the default setting is annoying.

Stage 2 is where it gets difficult. You will now need to grant the user ‘Send As’ permissions. This needs to be done via the Windows PowerShell. Firstly, download and install the Windows PowerShell from this link

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968929/en-us

Next step is to make sure that the account you are logged in with has administrator permissions on your computer. Also, you cannot be using a blank password, this will cause unexpected and vague errors when running the PowerShell services.

Open up a command prompt and type:

net start winrm

winrm get winrm/config/client/auth

Then type:

query winrm

There should be a line saying “Basic = true” if not, you must change it to false using the following command.

winrm set winrm/config/client/auth @{Basic=”true”}

Next, start up the Windows Powershell, it is located in All Programs – Accessories.

Type:

$LiveCred = Get-Credential

Then a username and password dialog box will pop up. Enter your Office365 username and password.

Next Run:

$Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri https://ps.outlook.com/powershell/ -Credential $LiveCred -Authentication Basic -AllowRedirection

And then run:

Import-PSSession $Session

Now we are ready to add the permissions to send as the other email address from the desired account. The command format is as follows:

Add-RecipientPermission -AccessRights SendAs -Trustee Where user is the name of the user, who wishes to send as the identity.

For example: Add-RecipientPermission “Marketing Team” -AccessRights SendAs -Trustee “Jim Jones”

You will be asked to confirm the permissions change, and confirmation of the change will display afterwards. Congratulations, you have just granted Send As permissions to a distribution list email. This technical advice is courtesy of McKinley Plowman, an excellent Perth based group of accountants.

A Pivot Table is an effective tool for the purpose of capturing, summarizing and analyzing data. These are often referred to as spreadsheets. The most common applications include Microsoft Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, and SpotFire. Most software systems have an export option which allows data to easily be downloaded into a spreadsheet application.

Pivot Tables provide users with the functionality to sort, count, and total the data they have collected. Pivot Tables are easy to use with drag and drop fields, new column and row insertion, and automatic calculations for quantity and currency calculations. Data can easily be sorted and filtered for multiple views to provide easy analysis. Most applications also include graphing functionality for a visual presentation of data summary.

Pivot Table Summary Information:

Following are 7 examples of how this Pivot Table provided this business owner with good data analysis critical to the success of her business.

ACTIVITY SUMMARY:

Visitors – 10

Inquiries Only – 6 (60%)

Sales – 4 (40%)

#1 – After posting her business online, this owner received 10 visitors to her website. 60% of those visitors inquired about her products. More importantly, 40% of those prospects became clients and purchased her merchandise. A 40% sales ratio shows an exceptionally high rate of success for this short amount of time. This business owner now knows her marketing efforts, while fairly new, are already producing great results!

ACTIVITY BY MONTH:

Visitors in July 2010 – 1 (10%)

Visitors in August 2010 – 4 (40%)

Visitors in September 2010 -5 (50%)

#2 – This online marketing strategy was initiated in July 2010 and only in place for 2.5 months. Although initial activity for the first month was low, activity increased each month thereafter. With 12 days left for additional activity in the month of September, this business owner can be confident with the significant percent of growth provided by these early results.

ACTIVITY BY REGION:

Activity from NE Region – 2 (20%)

Activity from SE Region – 8 (80%)

#3 – Demographics collected are important for effective marketing. These early results show this business owner that her products are more popular for residents in the SE than the NE. This is great information that she can use for specific target marketing efforts in the southern region of the United States in order to increase her revenues at a faster rate.

ACTIVITY SOURCE:

Internet – 8 (80%)

Telephone – 2 (20%)

#4 – These statistics confirm where the majority of the business is coming from. During the 2.5 months of her online marketing launch, 80% of her business came from online shoppers. This tells her the online marketing strategy is working better than cold calling prospects. It also confirms the overall effectiveness of her website.

PROSPECTS:

Total Inquiries to Date – 6 (60%)

Inquiries by Men – 3 (50%)

Inquiries by Women – 3 (50%)

#5 – This analysis confirms that her prospects and clients are both men and women. This is important information so she continues to develop her marketing strategies in a manner that is appealing to both sexes.

INQUIRY TOTALS:

Average No. of Inquiries Per Month – 3.33

Average No. of Inquiries Prior to Sale – 0.75 (75%)

#6 – So far this business owner has had exceptional results experiencing an average of 3.33 inquiries per month that turned into her 40% sales ratio. While 3 of the 4 sales included a separate inquiry prior to purchase, this data shows that at least 1 sale occurred during a first site visit. That means some of her clients will buy her product at first glimpse virtually eliminating a lengthy sales cycle altogether.

CLIENTS:

Total Sales Generated – 4 (40%)

Male Consumers – 3 (50%)

Women Consumers – 3 (50%)

Average Sale Amount – $125

Largest Sale Amount – $200

Total Revenue Generated $500

#7 – Understanding your sales is critical to increasing them! The Pivot Table analysis shows this business owner that out of the 40% sales ratio she experienced, her product was sold equally to men and women. Her lowest sales amount was $100 and largest at $200, giving her an average sale of $125. During the 2.5 months from the start of her marketing launch she has already generated $500 in revenue. That’s an average income of $200 per month to date. By using a Pivot Table to analyze her data, she is able to quickly compare her results against her projections to determine how well her plan is working.

The Pivot Table provides a summary of data providing business owners and managers with valuable information about the effectiveness of their marketing efforts. This is a great tool to determine the demographics of a target market, the most effective ways to find prospects and clients, and the overall effectiveness and success of the marketing strategy. Pivot Tables provide the detailed information needed for real time measurement of results against the business plan, goals and budget for any business. It is one of the most effective measurement tools for growing a successful business.

Music and video lovers are often gadget geeks, always looking for the new media players that will play faster, better and more clearly than older generations of devices. Consider two terrific gadgets that can heighten the enjoyment of both the old and the new in music and video collections.

Cassette Tape Recorder

It’s ‘fess up’ time. How many of you have a box or two stuffed in the back of your closet that holds old music cassettes? How many times have you pretended not to see them because you’d start missing those old classics? Sure, you can get the same songs on a DVD now, but the memories that accompany sliding those cassettes in go beyond just the music. Besides, you don’t like spending money for songs that you already own. The Tape 2 USB II Recorder saves the day!

Connect this really cool electronics gadget into a USB port in your computer, and you can play all those cassettes again. Its slim, sleek design means you can carry this with you in the computer laptop case or fit it nicely by your PC or Mac. As an added bonus, you can load the cassettes directly onto your computer and never be without them again. Create music libraries, burn CDs or fill your MP3 player with your cassette favorites.

Because it uses a USB connection, you can play the device in your car with a 12-volt USB connection. You no longer have to choose between a CD player or a cassette player in your car’s dashboard. The plug-and-play feature means you don’t have to worry about driver programs: You connect. You use. Period. Don’t worry if you don’t have a DC-powered USB port. Any electronics store worth its salt has one. Some auto parts stores carry products as well. Check around for the best prices, though. They can vary widely. Save that money for more music!

If your smartphone has the capability, you might sync the phone and hear your old favorites via the phone you carry with you all the time anyway. The adaptability and versatility of both this USB cassette player/recorder and your phone technology merge quite nicely, saving not only you money from duplicate music purchases but also saving the memories, smiles and plain music history.

Media Files Jukebox

If you’re playing in the major leagues of music and video capture, don’t worry about how much space your music collection is using. Transfer every cassette tape you just added to your hard drive, all those CDs you’ve ripped, all those videos that have snarfed up 80 percent of your drive space and send all of it to a media jukebox.

One jukebox gadget is the TVIX model that connects to both your computer and to many television sets. That’s right—your TV set. Load your DVD collection into the gadget, save space, save the media, and save the electricity that your computer uses, often more than a television set uses. Your DVD player broken? Not anymore! A DVD player is simply the means through which the data on the disk is sent to your TV. The jukebox does all that AND stores the media for full selection capabilities without digging through stack after stack, shelf after shelf.

MPEG, MPEG2, (AVI, VOB), MPEG4 (DivX, XviD) MP3, .JPEG, .WAV, .DVIX, Multi-Channel digital audio, OGG VORBIS and WMA files are safe and sound and all available to you in one place. Living room, den, basement or bedroom, never be without your full collection of sound or video files again. You have a computer or a TV in every room? Your collection can be with you as well.

Article written by Holly Adams @ Coupon Croc. Pair your new TV with an exciting service package and save big when you use Virgin Media discount codes.

I keep thinking what more can people come up with? I love gadgets but I must confess that I would make a terrible inventor I would be totally stumped because we seem to have everything that we could possibly need to use already. Fortunately there are a lot of very clever people out there that constantly prove me wrong. I have gone through all the latest gadgets and put together the 5 that I like best.

1. Envi

My favourite gadget for 2011 is Envi. Envi is not envious but environmentally friendly. This gadget takes your garbage and changes it into food for the plant that grows out of it. It not only gets rid of waste in a very useful way but it also looks very good. If everybody uses Envi for their home pot plants the saving to environment will be phenomenal so I am really rooting for this product.

2. Smart Shopping Carts

Number two on my list is an idea that makes our lives so much easier. Smart Shopping Carts is a new app for smart phones that will be like a GPS for the shopper. It will alert you to grocery discounts and to items that it is used to you buying. With your Smart Shopper you are very unlikely to forget the milk.

3. Nintendo 3DS

Number 3 on my list is the Nintendo 3DS which is a portable hand held game. It even has wireless internet connectivity so you can play games against your friends. Open up the little device and your playing characters literally come to life. There is so much on the gaming market but I must say this little handheld gaming device got a ‘super cool” from my teenagers. I have never seen anything like it those little playing characters look like human beings that have been shrunk and stuck into the device. I must admit the realism was strange and awesome at the same time.

4. Nook Colour Digital Book

Nook Colour Digital Book yes there are many e-reader tablets on the market but this one is really very user friendly and has great features such that it can be used to surf the web and access your social media. While the Nook is a bit expensive, you can by the Slim Nook Digital book for nearly $100 less. The screen is like a book page and it is very easy to read of. Nook digital books come with extended battery life.

5. Sony Vaio 3D Computer

If you are a serious gamer you have to get the Sony Vaio. The resolution is amazing and to adapt to your game you can switch from 2D to 3D. The computer comes with Blu-ray drives and Black Frame insertion. Even if you are not a gamer you will love having this computer to work on. The quality of the 3D surpasses any previous products and is up to par to their great 3D television sets.

New gadgets are created every day it seems so it is hard to keep up. I am not even sure if these will still be my favourite by the end of the year. Tablets are the big thing currently and yes they are great the only reason that I excluded them in my top 5 is because I could not decide which to choose.

We live in a technology-driven society, but no one enjoys the never-ending complexity involved when the software that you want to use does not work conveniently on your operating system of choice. Forex trading, which has gained enormous popularity over the past decade, is one such arena where Mac, Unix, and Linux enthusiasts encounter a maelstrom of hurdles if they wish to run the more popular Windows versions of forex trading software. A simple review of the various Internet forums on the topic indicate that not much has changed in the past few years to address this obvious market need.

Of course, one can get around this problem by accessing forex trading software resident on their trusted broker’s server and trading “in the cloud”, so to speak. However, the character profile of a dedicated Mac or Linux user will resent being forced to accept a “band aid” approach when there must be a viable system solution somewhere to be found. The preference is to download the desired trading program and have it operate efficiently on your primary PC, not from some distant and unseen server.

If one wishes to download a Linux version of a popular trading platform today, there are some forex brokers than do provide both Windows and Linux versions (even if it is rare), but if you are accustomed to the features of the more popular Metatrader 4 platform, then you are out of luck. Metaquotes, the producer of Metatrader 4, has not created a native Linux version. But, never fear – there is always the “virtualization” path that may prove to be your only solution at present.

Unfortunately, most forex trading software is designed to run on personal computers equipped with a relatively recent version of Windows. This situation has been commonplace for many software applications over the years. Microsoft has strength in numbers, and software houses must keep an eye on the size of their intended market if they hope to sell profitably in today’s highly competitive marketplace. Eventually, the numbers will warrant a Linux version, but for now, the “emulator” route is the only “open door”.

Mac users are accustomed to the virtulization solution. This process entails creating a “virtual”, rather than actual, version of a software application or anything else within a different operating system environment. With a proper emulator installed, you then have the flexibility of downloading your favorite trading platform from your chosen forex broker.

Under this common approach, the question then becomes which emulator software is preferred? The most common referenced emulator over the past few years has been “Wine”, but recent posts suggest that there may be better competing versions out there to experiment with, namely “Parallels” or “VMware Fusion”. The latter supplier has been active in other software virtualization areas, but has been late to the game for supporting Mac OS equivalents. “Parallels” is viewed as more “feature rich” and receives higher marks.

If this complex approach is a “turn off”, then you can always revert to the online or web-based solutions that are out there. You can avoid the frustration of downloading and attempting to run opposing operating systems by simply logging onto your broker’s website. You may have to compromise on principle, but the true objective is to trade the forex market, not to demonstrate your consummate IT adaptation skills.

Much has changed in technology, and much has stayed the same, but Mac and Linux users are a loyal lot. An emulation solution may work best for now until software suppliers in the industry adequately address this obvious market need.
